SOTO Film – Mulberry Paper

This will be the first in a series of posts introducing a collection of short films that were originally made for Soto as a training DVD. The shorts provide background to several of our products, and particularly the natural materials that go into the making of them. I am indebted to John for the the making of these videos.

The film below records our trip to a mulberry paper maker in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

Go Green can be put to almost endless water treatment uses to improve the quality of water in various measurable ways. The large surface area of the fine particles in the powder remove unwanted compounds from treated water by the processes of coagulation, flocculation and sedimentation. Go Green removes or greatly reduces the levels of numerous organic and inorganic water pollutants.

Examples of the uses to which Go Green can be put include:

Cesspools and septic systems
Fresh produce markets and slaughterhouses
Schools, hospitals, hotels, restaurants and department stores
Private houses; for example, to dissolve toilet, kitchen sink and other plumbing blockages
All kinds of factories
Canals, lakes, ponds, water courses and areas of stagnant water

If you’re planning to be in Thailand any time soon and are interested in the origin of Soto’s products, please send us a message and we’ll be happy to help. Although I might have to give up some of our hard earned secrets, I can point you in the direction of the best local markets, handicraft villages and Bazaars. If you’re not coming to Thailand for shopping, and it would be a waste of an opportunity to come only for shopping, then feel free to ask for any travel advice at all. We are not the lonely planet, but I have been in Thailand for 12 years, used to work in the tourism industry here, and know at least a few things that the Lonely Planet writers don’t know, or didn’t think to tell.

It’s getting hot in Thailand. Hasn’t rained more than a couple of minutes in months. The air is thicker, the sun is eating into all those shady spots I’ve been enjoying all winter. My desk is now facing 90 degrees to the left of where it was this morning, south into the Sun.

Jazz Band and friends of Soto, Alukomarai – http://www.myspace.com/alukomarai , are on Tour in the North of Thailand this weekend in the mountain resort town of Pai, Mae Hongson. I’ll be following them there in case I can’t make it for any of their Malaysia and Singapore tour next month.
